VN-Index rises 1.0%, liquidity contracts
The VN-Index gained 17.3 points (+1.0%) to 1,816.9 points on Thurday. The recovery was mainly driven by Real Estate stocks, with VIC making the largest positive contribution to the index, while weakness in some Banking and Oil & Gas stocks limited the gain. Market breadth turned positive, with 157 gainers, including six limit-up stocks, 79 unchanged stocks and 120 decliners, including seven limit-down stocks. The HNX-Index rose 2.6 points (+0.9%) to 276.9 points.
The VN30 closed at 1,965.4 points, up 12.1 points (+0.6%), with 16 gainers, five unchanged stocks and eight decliners. The VN100 rose 11.9 points (+0.7%) to 1,857.0 points, with 57 gainers, 14 unchanged stocks and 26 decliners, indicating broad-based gains across large- and mid-cap stocks.
At the sector level, Real Estate led with a 2.9% gain, followed by Industrial Goods & Services (+1.2%), Basic Resources (+0.9%), Food & Beverage (+0.9%) and Financial Services (+0.7%). On the downside, Utilities declined 1.0%, Oil & Gas fell 0.7%, Insurance declined 0.6% and Banking fell 0.3%. The mixed sector performance indicated that the index recovery was not broad-based across large-cap stocks.
HoSE matched trading liquidity reached VND10.2tn (USD385.8mn), down 25.1% from the previous session. Foreign investors recorded net buying of VND54.1bn (USD2.0mn), mainly in SBT (VND131.2bn, USD5.0mn), MCH (VND68.0bn, USD2.6mn), VIC (VND49.7bn, USD1.9mn), VNM (VND41.5bn, USD1.6mn) and MSN (VND37.2bn, USD1.4mn). On the net-selling side, TCB led with VND86.6bn (USD3.3mn), followed by VHM (VND54.5bn, USD2.1mn), VPB (VND49.6bn, USD1.9mn), BVH (VND45.0bn, USD1.7mn) and VCB (VND32.4bn, USD1.2mn).
