VN-Index falls 0.1%, liquidity drops sharply
The VN-Index fell 1.6 points (-0.1%) to 1,727.5 on Monday. The market remained mixed for most of the session, with VIC falling 1.2% and weighing significantly on the index, while gains in several other stock groups helped limit the overall decline. Market breadth was relatively balanced, with 147 gainers, including two stocks at the ceiling price, 66 unchanged stocks and 150 decliners, including two stocks at the floor price. The HNX-Index fell 1.4 points (-0.5%) to 278.6 points.
The VN30-Index closed at 1,877.7, up 0.9 points (+0.1%), with 19 advancers, one unchanged and 10 decliners. The VN100 fell 1.8 points (-0.1%) to 1,793.9, with 49 advancers, nine unchanged and 42 decliners, indicating mixed performance across large- and mid-cap stocks.
Sector performance was positive, with 14 of 19 sectors closing higher. Insurance led the gains at +3.0%, followed by Oil & Gas (+1.8%), Utilities (+1.6%), Basic Resources (+1.2%) and Telecommunications (+1.1%). On the downside, Health Care fell the most at -0.9%, followed by Real Estate (-0.7%), Financial Services (-0.3%), Banks (-0.3%) and Personal & Household Goods (-0.1%).
HoSE matched-order turnover reached VND10.6tn (USD404.5mn), down 34.6% DoD, indicating a significant decline in trading activity. Foreign investors continued to record a net outflow of VND602.6bn (USD23.0mn), concentrated in VIC (VND237.1bn/USD9.0mn), VHM (VND106.2bn/USD4.1mn), ACB (VND96.3bn/USD3.7mn), SSI (VND53.8bn/USD2.1mn) and GMD (VND46.7bn/USD1.8mn). On the buying side, TCB led net purchases at VND59.5bn/USD2.3mn, followed by VNM (VND45.9bn/USD1.8mn), HDB (VND29.1bn/USD1.1mn), NVL (VND19.8bn/USD0.8mn) and KDH (VND17.4bn/USD0.7mn).
