Market Commentary: Real Estates stocks’ performance fueled the VN-INDEX rise

The VN-INDEX closed up 2.1pts today on the back of strong support from the Real Estates sector. Following the positive sentiment in the previous session, Vietnam’s main index began today’s session optimistically as almost all large caps started trading in the green. Large caps from the Real Estate sector became the market’s mover led by VHM (+1.7%), VIC (+1.2%), VRE (+1.6%), KBC (+3.6%), contributing 2.7pts to the index gain. However, MWG emerged to be today’s leading stock, rising 5.0% to VND132,000 and alone adding 1.2pts to the index’s advance. Other large caps also joined the rally, including GAS (+2.5%), TPB (+3.6%), and CTG (+0.8%), thus further strengthening the index’s gain. As almost all large caps rose today the VN-INDEX gradually climbed to its intraday high of 1,361.1pts (+0.8%) and stayed in the green territory for the rest of the session. On the other hand, very few notable stocks lost ground today, led by MSN (-1.4%), DGC (-7.0%), VIB (-2.6%), VNM (-0.8%), and TCB (-0.6%). At the end of the session, the VN-INDEX increased 0.2% to 1,252.8pts, while the HNX-INDEX plunged 0.7% to 361.0pts.
