Market Commentary: The VN-INDEX went sideway to finish at 1,345.9pts in Thursday’s session

The VN-INDEX went sideways by edging up modestly 0.04pts to 1,345.9pts in today’s session. The index started the morning session with a positive sentiment when green color quickly emerged and boosted the market to touch its intraday high of 1,352.9pts (+0.5%), right after the opening bell. However, the index quickly lost its position and kept fluctuating around the reference level until noon break. In the afternoon session, the index suddenly dropped to red territory due to strong selling pressure. Vingroup related stocks, including VIC and VHM, are the biggest contributors for the reduction by losing 3.9% and 2.2%, respectively, and together erasing 4.9pts from the index. However, the index then recovered strongly right before the end of the session and maintained to finish in the green territory until closing. Notably, MSN is today’s top mover by increasing 3.4% and adding 1.6pts to the index’s advance. Several Financial large caps also joined the rally, including VCB, (+1.0%), VPB (+1.7%), TCB (+1.4%), BID(+1.5%), CTG (+1.6%) and MBB (+1.3%). At the end of the session, VN-INDEX remained stable to close at 1,345.9pts while the HNX-INDEX edged up 0.71% to 353.2pts in today’s session.
