VN-Index rises 1.6%, gains broaden across sectors
On August 3, 2026, the VN-Index rose 27.1 points (+1.6%) to close at 1,762.8. The index fluctuated in early trading and briefly fell to around 1,737 before recovering and maintaining its gains for most of the remaining session. Market breadth was positive, with 245 advancers, including 12 stocks at ceiling price; 43 unchanged stocks and 73 decliners, including three stocks at floor price. The HNX-Index rose 8.0 points (+3.0%) to 279.3.
The VN30-Index closed at 1,917.69, up 45.62 points (+2.44%), with 23 advancers, two unchanged and five decliners. The VN100 gained 38.40 points (+2.15%) to 1,825.30, with 82 advancers, three unchanged and 15 decliners, indicating improved buying interest across large- and mid-cap stocks.
All 19 sectors closed in positive territory. Media led the gains at +6.7%, followed by Technology (+5.7%), Insurance (+4.3%), Retail Services (+3.9%) and Travel & Leisure (+3.4%). Gains in major sectors, including Basic Resources (+3.0%), Banks (+2.5%), Industrial Goods & Services (+2.0%) and Financial Services (+1.8%), further supported the market recovery. Real Estate and Food & Beverage were broadly flat, rising 0.03% and 0.09%, respectively.
HoSE matched-order turnover reached VND16.4tn (USD624.1mn), up 3.2% DoD, indicating a modest improvement in money flow during the recovery. Foreign investors returned to net buying, recording a net inflow of VND1,058.9bn (USD40.3mn), concentrated in FPT (VND524.3bn/USD20.0mn), HPG (VND283.4bn/USD10.8mn), VCB (VND136.4bn/USD5.2mn), MBB (VND89.4bn/USD3.4mn) and FRT (VND88.7bn/USD3.4mn). On the selling side, NLG led net sales at VND114.4bn/USD4.4mn, followed by STB (VND71.8bn/USD2.7mn), TCB (VND71.5bn/USD2.7mn), VPB (VND56.6bn/USD2.2mn) and TCX (VND50.4bn/USD1.9mn).
