VN-Index falls 0.3%, market breadth remains negative
The VN-Index fell 5.3 points (-0.3%) to 1,726.7 on Wednesday. The index declined for most of the session after an early rebound and briefly fell to around 1,720 before narrowing losses toward the close. Market breadth was negative, with 95 advancers, including two stocks at ceiling price, 52 unchanged and 214 decliners, including six stocks at floor price. The HNX-Index fell 2.3 points (-0.8%) to 280.0.
The VN30-Index closed at 1,875.7, down 1.4 points (-0.0%), with seven advancers, three unchanged and 20 decliners. The VN100 fell 3.0 points (-0.2%) to 1,788.4, with 23 advancers, nine unchanged and 68 decliners, indicating weaker performance across large- and mid-cap stocks.
Sector performance was negative, with 13 of 19 sectors closing lower. Industrial Goods & Services fell the most at -1.4%, followed by Telecommunications (-1.3%), Technology (-1.2%), Construction & Materials (-1.0%), Oil & Gas (-1.0%) and Chemicals (-0.9%). On the upside, Basic Resources rose 0.4%, followed by Media (+0.2%), Food & Beverage (+0.2%), Health Care (+0.1%), Retail Services (+0.1%) and Utilities (+0.1%). Weakness in Industrial Goods & Services, Telecommunications and Technology outweighed modest gains elsewhere, leaving the market lower at the close.
HoSE matched-order turnover reached VND10.0tn (USD383.0mn), down 12.7% DoD, indicating continued cautious trading activity. Foreign investors continued to record a net outflow of VND711.5bn (USD27.2mn), concentrated in VIC (VND136.2bn/USD5.2mn), STB (VND122.5bn/USD4.7mn), and VPB (VND98.6bn/USD3.8mn). On the buying side, VNM led net purchases at VND61.1bn/USD2.3mn, followed by DGW (VND47.7bn/USD1.8mn), FRT (VND33.3bn/USD1.3mn), VIX (VND23.2bn/USD900,000) and MSR (VND20.6bn/USD800,000).
