Market commentary: The VN-INDEX stayed in the green territory for the second consecutive session

After a strong increase in the previous session, the VN-INDEX continued to experience a rising session. The index opened the Wednesday session with excitement as it gap up 21pts right after the opening bell. Most of the sectors increased. Three groups of industries that suffered from strong sell-off in the past, namely Banking, Real Estate, and Securities were also green. At 10AM, the index started to reverse as profit-taking activities pressure caused the market to turn around. However, the market then bounced back to the green territory to end the morning session optimistically with the VN-Index gaining 17.2pts. In the afternoon session, the index cooled down compared to the morning session when many large-cap stocks lost their gaining momentum. Top movers today included MSN (+6.9%), GAS (+4.1%), BCM (+7.0%), TCB (+3.4%), STB (+6.9%), and SHB (+6.9%). On the contrary, top laggard today were VCB (-0.8%), SAB (-2.4%), FPT (-2.0%), TPB (-2.4%), VJC (-1.8%), and HVN (-2.1%). At the end of the session, the VN-INDEX rose 1.0% to 1,240.8pts while the HNX-INDEX plunged 1.8% to 309.8pts. Today’s liquidity is still relatively low with a trading value of about VND13.8tr in the VN-INDEX.
