Vietnam Daily Market Recap Jul 28 – GAS

Market Commentary: The VN-INDEX ended nearly flat at 1,277.1pts 

The VN-INDEX stayed nearly flat, gaining only 0.1pts to end at 1,277.1pts with mixed performance of large caps. After the opening bell, the VN-INDEX started the session in the red as several Real Estate and Consumer Staples market pillars fell under selling pressure, led by VHM (-1.2%), NVL (-2.3%), VNM (-0.7%), MSN (-0.8%) and BCM (-1.6%), pushing the index to its intraday low of 1,271.8pts (-0.4%). The index fluctuated around the reference point and entered the green territory as Financials large caps lent support. Notably, VCB became today’s top mover, rising 2.1% to VND97,000, adding 2.0pts to the index’s move. Other Financials stocks also joined the rally, including CTG (+1.2%), BID (+0.7%) and OCB (+3.1%). Despite early selling pressure, the VN-INDEX managed to end in the green at the end of the session. The index inched up 0.01% to 1,277.1pts with 130 gainers and 175 losers. The HNX-INDEX also ended today’s session nearly flat, edging up 0.1% to 306.3pts.
