Market Commentary: Red colour covered the Monday’s session

The VN-INDEX continued to lose 29.7pts today as all sectors lost ground. Following the solid downward trend on Friday’s session last week, Vietnam’s main stocks market opened in a pessimistic manner and stayed in the red territory for almost the whole session as market pillars started trading in the red.  Financial large caps were the biggest laggards today, led by VCB (-2.7%), CTG (-2.7%), TCB (-2.4%), HDB (-6.1%), MBB (-2.8%), and VIB (-4.2%). These stocks together took 7.0pts off the index’s move. Other large caps also lost ground, including GAS (-4.8%), HPG (-4.1%), and SAB (-3.4%). On the other hand, a few stocks overcame the strong selling pressure, such as POW (+2.6%), SSI (+1.0%), VND (+1.2%), VIC (+0.1%), and ITA (+3.1%). At the end of the session, the VN-INDEX closed down 2.1% to 1,413.6pts with 324 losers, and the HNX-INDEX also plunged 3.0% to 435.9pts. Besides, after eight consecutive selling sessions, foreign investors had a positive trading session today with a net bought value of VND316.3bn.
