Market Commentary: The VN-INDEX regained its yesterday’s loss with support from Financials large caps

The VN-INDEX climbed 7.3pts today as investors sought to buy Financials large caps. After the opening bell, the VN-INDEX started in a positive sentiment and stayed in the green throughout today’s session. Financials sector was the biggest supporter with CTG (+3.2%), MBB (+3.3%), VCB (+0.9%), ACB (+2.6%), TCB (+1.0%), and HDB (+2.1%), together adding 4.9pts to the index’s advance. Other market pillars also joined the rally and strengthened the index’s gain including NVL (+4.1%), GAS (+2.0%), and HPG (+1.0%). Thus, the index gradually rose to its intraday high of 1,386.0pts (+1.0%). On the downside, selling pressure forced very few stocks to fall, led by SAB (-1.7%), VHM (-0.5%), VPB (-0.8%), PDR (-2.3%), and VRE (-0.9%). At the end of the session, the VN-INDEX maintained positive sentiment, surging 0.5% to 1,380.0pts and the HNX-INDEX also gained 0.3% to 317.1pts. In addition, foreign investors net sold today with a total value of VND437.2bn and mainly focused on PVI, VPB, and BCG.
