Market Commentary: The VN-INDEX slightly recovered to end in the green 

The VN-INDEX regained yesterday’s loss by rising 14.0pts on the back of Financials sector. Vietnam’s main stock market opened in a pessimistic manner and fluctuated around the reference point during the morning session due to the mixed performance of many large caps. Top laggards today included BCM (-7.0%), VIC (-1.0%), GAS (-0.9%), MSN (-1.0%), and VJC (-1.9%). However in the afternoon session, several large caps lent support to push the index to its intraday high of 1,299.2pts (+1.5%). HPG was the biggest supporter which rose 3.3%  to contribute 1.8pts to the index’s advance. Other Financials large caps also joined the rally and kept the index to stay in the green territory for the rest of the session, led by VPB (+4.1%), CTG (+3.9%), TCB (+2.2%), ACB (+3.1%), STB (+5.1%), VCB (+0.7%), and SSB (+5.5%). Foreign investors also had a positive trade today and net bought with a total value of VND735.4bn. At the end of the session, the VN-INDEX closed in the green at 1,293.9pts (+1.1%) and the HNX-INDEX also surged 3.2% to 306.3pts.
