Market Commentary: The VN-INDEX finished its last trading day of 2021 with a bullish session

The VN-INDEX rose 12.3pts to end 2021 with strong support from Financial large caps. The market started its morning session by quickly shifting up the green territory right after the opening bell and soon touched its intraday high of 1499.1pts. Several Financial large caps supported the index’s gain, led by BID (+4.8%), VIB (+6.9%), TCB (+1.4%), SHB (+4.2%), STB (+3.3%) and VPB (+1.1%). Other market pillars also joined the rally, including NVL (+5.4%), HPG (+1.5%) and VNM (+0.5%). However, the uptrend momentum decelerated and started to plump as soon as it approached the 1,500pts area. In the afternoon session, the index challenged this level for the second time and once again failed to surpass it. On the other hand, some of the large caps presented poor performances in today’s session, including GAS (-0.8%), VRE (-1.3%), HAG (-6.7%), HNG (-5.7%), and SSI (-1.5%). At the end of the final session of 2021, the VN-INDEX edged up 0.8% to finish at 1,498.3pts and the HNX-INDEX also surged 2.7% to 473.9pts.
