Market Commentary: The VN-INDEX rose 0.8% despite early trading sell-off
The VN-INDEX completed its ninth consecutive gaining session by rising 10.8pts today. After the opening bell, the market faced selling pressure against MSN (-0.7%), VNM (-0.6%), SAB (-1.0%), GAS (-0.2%), and VCF (-5.6%), thus pushing the VN-INDEX down to its intraday low of 1,326.8pts (-0.6%). However, large caps from the Materials and Financials sector lent some support, pulling the index to the green territory. Notably, HPG was the biggest supporter, rising 2.7% to add 1.6pts to the index’s move. Other Bank’s stocks also joined the rally and pushed the index up to its intraday high of 1,346.6pts (+0.9%), led by VCB (+0.9%), VPB (+2.2%), TCB (+1.0%), ACB (+1.4%), VIB (+1.6%), and LPB (+3.4%). In addition, foreign investors also had a positive trading session with a net bought value of VND1,147bn and mainly focused on VNM, VRE, and NVL. At the end of the session, the VN-INDEX closed in the green at 1,345.6pts (+0.8%) and the HNX-INDEX also surged 1.7% to 325.5pts.
